Sample Itinerary

  • Starting the trip with a day mission out of Chamonix. We will take the Flégère and Index trams up into the Aiguille Rouges mountains. From there we will hike about 30-40min and climb the Aiguille Crochues Traverse (5c, PD). Plan to be on route for 68hrs.

  • Today will will take the Aiguille du Midi lift up and walk across the Valle Blanche glacier. Climb the Entreves Traverse (AD-, 4c) then stay at the Torino hut that evening.

  • Today we will have an alpine start early from the Torino Hut and climb the Dent du Geant, "Tooth of the Giant" (AD, 4c). Plan for a full day in the mountains. This evening we will spend our final day in the Torino Hut.

  • Making our way back across the Valle Blanche we will climb the Cosmique Arete (AD) and head back down to Chamonix. Tonight we will have dinner and stay in town.

  • Today we will take a train to Zermatt (~4hrs). Have lunch when we arrive then have walk into the Hornli Hutte (2-3hrs of hiking).

  • Today we will wake up early and get in que for our summit bid. The first half of the mountain requires lots of rock and ridge scrambling with the final section having significantly more ice and snow. Plan for about a 8-12 hr day. once we reach the summit (4,478m) we will reverse the route and stay on the hut one more night.

  • Today we will have a nice walk back to Zermatt and spend the night in town.

  • With such a committing mountain its nice to have some flexibility with our summit push.
